How We Use Your Information and Obtain Your Consent
We use the information we collect to send you updates, news, and marketing communications about the upcoming launch and development of the DOTS Platform.
Our legal basis for processing your personal information is your explicit consent. We operate a double opt-in process: after you submit your email address on our Website, we will send you a confirmation email. You will be added to our mailing list only after you confirm your subscription by clicking the link in that email.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers who help us manage our communications, such as our email marketing provider and web hosting service.
Google Calendar Integration
DOTS uses the Google Calendar API to provide scheduling features for tattoo artists.
Our application requests the following scope:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar — view, create, edit, and delete calendar events in the artist's Google Calendar.
How we use this access:
- When a tattoo artist connects their Google Calendar, they grant DOTS this permission.
- DOTS requests free/busy information from the artist's existing calendars, so they can see which time slots are already occupied.
We do not read event titles, descriptions, participants, or other details.
This information is shown only to the artist in their personal DOTS dashboard. Clients cannot see it.
DOTS does not store the content of any existing events, except those created by DOTS itself. - For scheduling purposes, DOTS creates a separate calendar in the artist's Google account. All DOTS-related events are added to this calendar.
- When the artist sets availability in DOTS, we create an all-day event in the DOTS calendar with the format: "DOTS. [Studio Name]. [Time Range]".
- If the artist removes availability in DOTS, the corresponding event is deleted.
- When a client books a tattoo session, DOTS creates an event with:
- Title: "DOTS. [Client Name]"
- Description: client name, tattoo sketch name, and a link to the DOTS session page
- Duration: the booked session time.
- If a session is rescheduled or canceled (with client agreement), the event is updated or deleted.
- Artists can also create additional sessions through DOTS, which appear as new events in the DOTS calendar.
These functions are available only to tattoo artists. Clients and sketch creators do not need calendar access.
User control and data deletion:
- Tattoo artists can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from their DOTS profile settings.
- They can also revoke DOTS access directly in their Google Account → Security → Third-party apps.
Once access is revoked, DOTS can no longer read or create events.
Security and data protection for Google user data:
DOTS implements reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect Google user data (including OAuth tokens, calendar IDs, event IDs, and synchronization metadata) against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
These measures include:
- Encryption in transit: DOTS uses HTTPS/TLS for data transmitted between your device, DOTS, and our service providers.
- Encryption at rest: Google connection data stored by DOTS (such as OAuth tokens, calendar IDs, event IDs, and sync metadata) is stored in encrypted databases and encrypted backups, where supported by our infrastructure.
- Access controls: Access to production systems and stored Google connection data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis, using the principle of least privilege.
- Logging and monitoring: DOTS uses logging and monitoring to help detect suspicious activity and protect system integrity.
- Data minimization: DOTS stores only the minimum data needed for synchronization (for example, event IDs and technical metadata) and does not store content from your existing (non-DOTS) calendar events beyond free/busy status as described above.
If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us at support@dots.inc.
International Data Transfers
Our service providers may store and process your information in countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States. When we transfer data from the European Economic Area (EEA), we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.
